About the Role

Brookhaven Retail Group is hiring a VP of Finance whose mandate covers owning the financial strategy, capital allocation and reporting integrity of the business across its retail business. Based in Dallas, TX on a on-site basis, the role reports to the senior vice president or the relevant c-suite executive and carries a remit of Functional leadership across several teams and regions. Brookhaven Retail Group is a national retailer operating stores alongside a growing digital channel. The appointed leader inherits 60–220 people and will be measured on the strategic priorities set out below rather than activity.

The leadership mandate

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Build a succession bench across controllership, planning and business partnering
  • Lead finance, FP&A, accounting and treasury leaders as a single accountable team
  • Act as the executive partner to the CEO and board on capital allocation

First 12 months

Strategic Priorities

Build the financial infrastructure required for the next stage of scale
Improve operating margin without slowing the growth agenda
Shorten the close cycle and raise forecast accuracy to a board-grade standard

Day to day

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders on pricing, margin and productivity decisions
  • Own the annual operating plan, long-range forecast and quarterly reforecast cycle
  • Present financial performance, risks and scenarios to the board and audit committee
  • Direct capital allocation across organic investment, M&A and shareholder returns
  • Strengthen controls, close discipline and the quality of external reporting

Leadership profile

Qualifications

  • Track record presenting to boards, auditors and external stakeholders
  • Senior finance leadership experience in a company of comparable scale and complexity
  • Depth in FP&A, controllership and treasury, with US GAAP fluency
  • 12+ years, including 4+ leading managers of progressive leadership experience
  • Experience operating in the retail sector or an adjacent regulated market

  • Proven leadership of 60–220 people, directly and through other leaders
  • Accountability for a budget or P&L consistent with Functional leadership across several teams and regions
  • Experience presenting to executive committees, boards or investment committees

Clean audit outcome and improved close cycle time
Operating margin and EBITDA delivery against plan

  • CPA, CFA or MBA
