About the Role

Grayline Insurance Group is hiring a Director of Information Security whose mandate covers owning the security programme, cyber risk posture and regulatory readiness across its insurance business. Based in Denver, CO on a hybrid basis, the role reports to the senior director or vice president and carries a remit of Functional ownership with budget accountability. Grayline Insurance Group is a national insurer writing commercial and specialty lines. The appointed leader inherits 20–70 people and will be measured on the strategic priorities set out below rather than activity.

The leadership mandate

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead security engineering, operations, GRC and incident response teams
  • Brief the board and audit committee on cyber risk in business terms
  • Build a security culture that partners with, rather than blocks, delivery

First 12 months

Strategic Priorities

Close the highest-severity control gaps on a funded, dated plan
Reduce mean time to detect and respond to material incidents
Achieve and maintain the certifications customers require

Day to day

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage third-party and supply chain security risk
  • Quantify and report cyber risk to executive and board audiences
  • Own the multi-year security strategy, control framework and roadmap
  • Run threat detection, incident response and resilience exercises
  • Lead certification and audit readiness across relevant frameworks

Leadership profile

Qualifications

  • Security leadership experience in a comparable risk environment
  • Depth in control frameworks, incident response and risk quantification
  • Experience reporting to boards and regulators
  • 10+ years, including team leadership of progressive leadership experience
  • Experience operating in the insurance sector or an adjacent regulated market

Track record

Leadership Experience

  • Proven leadership of 20–70 people, directly and through other leaders
  • Accountability for a budget or P&L consistent with Functional ownership with budget accountability
  • Experience presenting to executive committees, boards or investment committees

Preferred Qualifications

  • CISSP, CISM or equivalent
