About the Role

Steelcrest Automotive is hiring a Head of Product whose mandate covers owning product strategy, portfolio priorities and commercial outcomes of the product line across its automotive business. Based in Chicago, IL on a remote basis, the role reports to the vice president or the functional c-suite executive and carries a remit of End-to-end department ownership. Steelcrest Automotive is an automotive manufacturer investing heavily in electrification. The appointed leader inherits 25–90 people and will be measured on the strategic priorities set out below rather than activity.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Set the discovery, prioritisation and outcome-review standard
  • Partner as a peer with engineering, design and commercial leadership
  • Lead product directors and group product managers across the portfolio

First 12 months

Strategic Priorities

Concentrate investment on the areas with the clearest commercial return
Raise adoption and retention across the installed base
Bring a credible new revenue line to market within the first year

Day to day

Key Responsibilities

  • Define measurable outcomes for each portfolio area and hold teams to them
  • Lead pricing, packaging and lifecycle decisions with finance and sales
  • Run continuous discovery with customers and the market
  • Communicate the product narrative to customers, partners and the board
  • Own the product strategy, roadmap and investment allocation

Leadership profile

Qualifications

  • Record of shipping products that moved adoption, retention or revenue
  • Strong customer research and analytical instincts
  • Product leadership experience owning a portfolio and its commercial outcomes
  • 10+ years, including departmental leadership of progressive leadership experience
  • Experience operating in the automotive sector or an adjacent regulated market

Track record

  • Proven leadership of 25–90 people, directly and through other leaders
  • Accountability for a budget or P&L consistent with End-to-end department ownership
  • Experience presenting to executive committees, boards or investment committees
